the cat who writes

Write, take naps, and take another nap

ABOUT THE CAT

Hello, I am Harper, Harper Hodges. I am a cat.

Pooh Hodges was the original cat who writes. He died on April 1st, 2015. Yes, I know. April Fool’s Day, but it is no joke.

I put his original words in a quote box at the bottom of this page.

Now I am “The cat who writes.” I don’t know how to read yet. But Mrs. Hodges told me to just talk to her and she would type for me.

All my best.

Love Harper

This is Martha before she went on a diet.

This is Pooh’s Story

I am the cat who writes.

I write about the world from a cat’s perspective. Because I am a cat, after all.  Would you expect me to write from the perspective of a dog?  Silly, dogs are not as smart as cats.

My name is Pooh. Pooh Hodges. My full name is Winnie The Pooh Hodges. My friends call me Pooh. I spell my name with an H on the end.

I am a writer.

I have had a hard life. Born to a single mother in a back alley in Wisconsin. I never knew my father. My sister died young. I am writing my story.

I dictate and one of my staff  types.

She is taking an eight week, On line writing course, Tribewriters by Jeff Goins.  All she does is talk about Goins.  Goins said this. Goins said that. Goins said that writing doesn’t have to be lonely. Goins said I can build a community. Goins said I can develop new habits. Goins said to get practical. Goins said find your tribe. Goins said to write in public.

I am taking Goins advice and writing in public.

Hi Harper, I am here with my cat Natalie. She showed me this website and I thought it looked neat so I joined!

    • Harper Hodges

      Hello Erica Muller,
I am so happy you stopped by to say hello with your car Natalie. Please give her my best.
Now I must go and ask Mrs. Hodges to clean the litter boxes again tonight. Four cats and seven litter boxes is just not enough.

Pooh Hodges, you have just replied to my comment following your post on The Write Practice. Thank you for your reply – you have just made my day and made me laugh. You are my new favourite cat writer and I can’t wait to read your posts.
P.s I am currently sat with my Siamese cat Maysie. She is also a fan.

    • Hello Dearest Laura,
Thank you so much for coming over to say hello. And, please say hello to Maysie for me. Do you mind sharing a photograph of her?
      All my best,
      xo

      • Laura

Maysie is very honoured to meet you, as am I. I asked her which photos I should sent to you and she chose the following –
One is a festive one of her with her christmas pals last year and the other is one of her proof-reading my work. (She gives excellent critique.)

Pleasure to speak to you, Pooh. X

        • Maysie, and of course Laura,
Thank you for sending the photographs. Maysie looks very regal, and very smart.
Laura, you are very fortunate to have a wise cat to help you proof-read. If I can ever help you let me know. I love to hunt for words that are spelled wrong as much as I love to hunt for mice.

  • Pooh, you cool cat you!!

    • Miss Stacey, you flatter me. You would make a great staff member for a cat.

  • Dear Pooh, may I call you that. I used to have a cat called Peaches and Cream, Peaches for short. Once I was on my bed as a young girl crying with Peaches. My mother came in and asked what was wrong.

“I think the cat feels bad because we got the dog.”

My mother left the room. Peaches stayed. Cats are like that.

We also had a cat called Puddie. She had to move because she decided she liked our new Loveseat more than her litter box. It was hard.

Yes, I am a TribeWriter. Be nice to your staff. Especially Pamela. She’s good people.

    • My Dear Miss Anne, Yes, please call me Pooh, I use to the name. I may never get used to the name Bill. If someone said, “Where is Bill,” I may not even answer. Your cat Peaches and Cream sounds like they were a very understanding soul. Staff often have to go and vacuum or make dinner, or clean the litter box. Staff don’t have as much time to comfort and just purr.Poor Puddie. I may have to write a book about how to use a litter box. Yes, a cat who uses a loveseat as a litter box, does need to move.

I am delighted to correspond with a Tribewriter. I was going to take the course as well, but I have been busy catching mice. I think I will take it during the next session. I have heard that Jeff Goins has good advice. Thank you for your suggestion. I will be nice to Pamela. I will try and throw up outside from now on.

  • You are a riot. Loved it!

    • Dear Miss Anne, thank you so much for visiting my blog. My staff, Pamela has mentioned your name when she talks about her fellow Tribewriters. She said that you are very helpful with your comments. Do you have a cat that you are staff for as well?
