Cats love birthday parties if they can wear a party hat

catbirthday

Mrs. Hodges had a birthday on Saturday. She has one ever year. This year she had party hats.

And I wanted one. Cats love birthday parties if they can wear a party hat.

Mrs. Hodges let me wear my hat while I took a nap in a sunbeam. She is very kind. She even cleaned all of the litter boxes on her birthday. Now, that is a true friend.

We didn’t play any games at the party. I was disappointed. At my birthday party I want to play pin the tail on the mouse and tag. A real mouse.

Would you like to wear a party hat on your birthday? Mrs. Hodges made my hat smaller so it would fit on my head.

I would love to give you my party hat.

Yes, that’s right. An original hat worn my me, Pooh Hodges.

At the end of the day I will pick a random number to see who won the hat. I don’t have thumbs, so I can’t address the package or wrap it for you. But, I will get Mrs. Hodges, my typist, to send it to you.

Please tell me if you would like my party hat in the comments. Please share my story and leave a comment and I will put your name in the drawing for my party hat. Really. I will.

I would love to hear from you. Click on the photograph below to leave a comment or just scroll to the bottom of the post on the blog.
All my best,

UPDATE

Hello dear friends, I have chosen a winner for the party hat from the seven commenters below. The winner is La Mcoy and her dog Edelweiss: they will get the hat I am wearing in the photograph. I wrote about choosing a winner here. Cats have a hard time picking a winner.

I really wanted everyone to feel special, so I am sending birthday party hats to Berdeane, Rhonda, Beth Anne, Marie, Shelley and Skittles.

  • Skittles

    Hello Pooh,

Please tell Mrs Hodges Happy birthday!!, You look great in your hat, I like to lie on my humans hats, he has lots of them, I used to be able to crawl in them when I was younger, now i just lie on them. I really like his floppy outdoor work hat it’s the best one to curl up on. Have a great day.

    your friend,

    Skittles

    • Hello Dearest Skittles,
Mrs. Hodges is very thankful for the birthday greeting.
Thank you for your kind words about my appearance in my hat.
You really do sound like a cat who likes to have fun. Perhaps your human could share a photograph of you in his floppy outdoor hat?
I hope you have a great day as well Skittles,
      All my best,
      Your friend,
      Pooh

  • I don’t mean to be ungrateful, Pooh; but, you know what would be more awesome than your hat? A signed photograph of you wearing your hat. That would be the cat’s pajamas (oops! can I say that?)

    • Hello Dearest Shelley,
You are so right Shelley. I will ask Mrs. Hodges to order several copies of me wearing my hat. It may a few days to get printed. Would you like to have a copy?
Yes of course you may say “the cat’s pajamas.” I am not quite sure why the cat is wearing pajamas, perhaps the cat is cold.
      All my best,
      xo

      • If ever Mrs. Hodges gets the time (I know she’s extremely busy at the moment), I hope she can paint your portrait with your party hat on. Do you have a fireplace? It would look perfect right above the mantel. You do have a mantel, right? Just a thought.

  • La McCoy

    Dear Pooh,
You look Divine in your party hat.
Me I do not wear hats. You may recall. Last year my cuz Effie did the deed for our family. I was grateful to her. and the year before jingle bunny wore the hat.
I do not dress up in costume either.
As a white german shepherd I came into the world pretty perfect. and i do not let mom mess with perfection.
    Love,
    Edelweiss.

    • My dearest Laura and Edelweiss,
Thank you for your kind comment about my party hat. I have asked Mrs. Hodges to buy me a black top hat. I think it will suit me better.
Yes, you really don’t need a hat Edelweiss, as a white German Shepherd you really are perfect. The only think that would improve you is if you were a cat.
      All my best,

Hi Pooh! Sorry we haven’t written in a bit, things have been crazy around here. But we wanted to wish your Mrs. Hodges a Happy Birthday! Sending lots of kitty kisses and purrs for her from all of us here. MacKayla the Empress offered to write a birthday poem but knowing her would be all about how she’s an Empress and wonderful and etc, etc. We really like your birthday hat! We have sat through a lot of “hats” since the kids like to dress us up! We have a great pic of William the Orange wearing a catnip spider that we should send you — it’s still on our Mom’s phone. We would love a birthday hat if we should be chosen – and you should definitely autograph it too for whoever wins it – that would be a Pooh collectible hat then!!

Purrs from MacKayla the Empress, Joel Gray, William the Orange and Giblet Paws

    • Hello Dearest Marie,
Thank you so much for writing. I wish you and MacKayla the Empress, Joel Gray, William the Orange and Giblet Paws all my best.
Please do send me the photograph of William the Orange wearing a catnip spider. Or you could add the photograph here, so everyone else may enjoy it as well.
Yes, the hat will be autographed.
      All my best,

  • Pooh have you ever worn bunny ears on Easter? My cats are not fans of the bunny ears but they are harder to get on than party hats 🙂

    • Hello Beth Anne,
I have never worn bunny ears on Easter. However next year I would like to.
Perhaps your cats would like a party hat?
      All my best,

      • Maybe we can trade. I’ll send you their bunny ears and you send me your party hat 😉

  • Rhonda

    Good morning Pooh
I am writing from Australia. Would Mrs. Hodges even send a party hat to Australia? I would share it with my two cat friends next door. Will you be autographing your birthday party cat hat? That would be a good a good idea … and make it even more special. Please be sure and let us know when your birthday is. I will make a special birthday hat and wear it for the day in honour of you. When people ask me why I am wearing a birthday hat I will say that I am wearing it to celebrate Mr Pooh Hodges birthday and then I will show them your picture.
    All the best,
    Rhonda

    • Good Morning Rhonda,
I spoke to Mrs. Hodges and she would love to send you a party hat to Australia.
And, yes, I will be autographing my party hat.
What a fun idea! I will be sure and tell you when my birthday is. When is your birthday dearest Rhonda? I would love to send you a birthday card. Then you can show your friends you have a cat as a pen pal.
      All my best,
      xo
