the cat who writes

Write, take naps, and take another nap

I am working on January First, my assistant Charlie has the day off

Charlie my assistant stayed awake until midnight last night. He was determined to see the New Year in. I wisely went to bed early. I needed a good nights sleep so I would be well rested to hunt mice this morning.

Charlie was still asleep when I left for work.  I don’t take holidays. There are always mice to catch. And, well, dry cat food is rather boring.  A nice warm mouse sounds like a great way to start the first day of a New Year.

My staff keep talking about their New Years Resolutions. They are going to walk every day, or write every day. I told them to add to their list, “Clean the litter box every day.”

I don’t make lists.  I just get up every day and work hard. I have dreams and books I want to write.  Every day I write a little.  At the end of this year, I will have a book.

I read  Jeff Goins blog.  He has helped me with my writing goals.  My staff took his On-line writing course, Tribe Writers. I am going to sign up the next time the class is available. I wonder if he has ever had a cat take his course?

How about you?

What will you do today?

What hole will you start to dig that will give you a swimming pool at the end of the year?

  • Pooh,
As a hard working German Sheppard. I admire your work ethic.
I like an early start on getting the neighborhood under control.
On writing, Mom types the blog I dictate weekly and your are right. At the end of the year I have a book. Did you see my book on my website?
A fresh warm mouse sounds delicious. If you ever have an extra one. I would love a bite.
Mom gives me a chopped boiled egg.
    Write on Pooh, Edelweiss.

    • Dearest Edelweiss,
Thank you so much for writing. I will look for your book on your website. I must have missed it. Thank you for making sure I saw it. I would love to read your writing. If I get an extra mouse I will send it to you. Did you want it smoked or raw? A chopped boiled egg sounds delicious. I will ask me staff to prepare one for my breakfast tomorrow morning.
      All the best, love Pooh.

  • Wow there Cat!
What a strong writer’s voice you have!
I am not so certain that you need a workshop-you have mind of your own and you speak it-ER write it!
I look forward to hearing more of your voice… Will you continue throughout the year?

    • Good Morning Amy, I so happy to hear from you. Thank you for your encouragement. I am very happy to be included in the Tuesday Slice. My staff member submitted my story to Stacey and Ruth. I couldn’t even take my afternoon map yesterday, I was too excited waiting to hear if I was accepted. Would you mind if I commented on your stories? I have been reading them. All the best to you for a great New Year. Love always, Pooh.

      • Pooh,
I don’t mind if you read and comment on my stories-I’d love to hear the feline point of view!

        • Oh thank you Amy. I look forward to reading and commenting on your stories. Would you like me to send you a mouse?

          • No Pooh,
We are not fans of mice or any pets except virtual ones! All of us have some type of pet hair allergies so we don’t have pets in our house…sad I know! You could be our virtual adopted pet?!

          • My dearest Amy,I am so sorry you and your family have pet allergies. I would love to be your virtual pet. Would you like a photograph of me? I have an appointment tomorrow to have my portrait taken. Just let me know and I will have one made for you. 5×7 or 8×10? Love always, Pooh.

  • Your colleague, Mimi, also has an assistant named Charlie who was actually very busy today chasing a storm. Now they are both resting after their adventure. I wish you luck in 2013 with your writing adventure. Be good and carry on.

    • My dearest Margaret, I am delighted to hear My colleague Mimi, has an assistant named Charlie as well. How fun. I wish them the best in the New Year, and I wish you well as well. Hugs, love Pooh.

I love the picture – even though not being a cat person, I know I would love you, Pooh. I look forward to reading your book – and in the meantime I will thoughtfully consider how to maximize my hole-digging so that all my efforts work together and help me reach the purpose I want to achieve. Carry on, Pooh, and Happy New Year!

    • Happy New Year Fire Fly Trails, I hope you have a wonderful year reaching the goal you want to achieve. All the best, love Pooh.

  • Love this: “What hole will you start to dig that will give you a swimming pool at the end of the year?”

    I need to start digging!

    Blessings,
    Joan

    • Good Morning Joan, how mice, I mean, how nice of you to comment. I hope you have a wonderful year digging.
      All the best, love Pooh.
